    Gamma Labs G Fuel

If you’re a gamer, you’ve most likely heard of G Fuel. G Fuel is the leader in the gaming supplement industry, first introduced in 2012. G Fuel spends a lot to promote their products to gamers, with an impressive amount of influencers, professional gamers, and organizations. They initially focused on a formulation that mixes with water, but in 2019 G Fuel launched ready-to-drink cans.

With that out of the way, let me give some background on myself. I’ve been a gamer all my life, and find myself staying up late quite often. I usually relied on standard energy drinks, until I came across G Fuel. In this review, I will cover some facts about G Fuel, as well as give my experience with G Fuel and how it compares to its competition.

    What Is G Fuel?

G Fuel is a company created by Gamma Labs. G Fuel focuses on gaming supplements that help gamers across the world increase their energy, focus, and endurance; without the use of toxic chemicals or additives in sugary energy drinks.

G Fuel’s mission is to create a 100% clean, natural, and healthy alternative to typical energy drinks. They currently have 3 main product lines, their well-known powder formula, ready-to-drink cans, and energy crystal candy. In this review, I will be covering the formula and cans. The tubs include 40 servings, each containing 150 mg of caffeine. The cans are 16 oz and have a whopping 300 mg of caffeine.

    G Fuel Ingredients

G Fuel has pretty good ingredients, especially comparing to common energy drinks. Previously, G Fuel did not have a transparent label, meaning they don’t list the exact amounts of each supplement. This is a common practice when it comes to supplements. But for their new flavors, they now list the exact amounts that used to make up their energy and focus complex.

    Maltodextrin

Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate additive made from corn, rice, potato starch, or wheat. This ingredient can increase your blood glucose and usually is used as a filler. I would like to see G Fuel remove this ingredient from the formula.

    Sucralose

Sucralose is a sugar substitute and is commonly used in sugar-free drinks. For healthy people, sucralose found in G Fuel shouldn’t be an issue. If you have adverse reactions to sucralose, you will have to look elsewhere for your caffeine fix.

Artificial sweeteners, like sucralose, may inhibit the growth of good bacteria in the gut. For this reason, it’s not recommended to consume more than 3 servings per day.

G Fuel Energy Formula + Tips

I love G Fuel’s energy formula, it’s super cost-effective and is easy to prepare. I have a few tricks to make it taste better. It’s better to use less water and add more water if it’s too strong. I recommend 1 scoop per 12 oz of water. It’s best to add the water to your shaker first, then a few ice cubes, and finally the energy powder. Shake it up, but don’t drink it just yet. You want to let it rest for 5 minutes or more.

After letting it rest, there will be a layer of chalk at the bottom, this is what you want to avoid. Carefully pour the drink into a cup, leaving an ounce or so of the liquid in the shaker, which is mainly the chalkiness. The longer you let it settle, the less chalky it will be.

For those used to energy drinks, be aware the formula will have no carbonation. It will be more like an energy juice. If you like your energy drinks carbonated, mix 1 scoop of powder with 1 ounce of water and shake it up. Separately in a cup, pour 1 can of club soda and then pour in your concentrated G Fuel mix and mix it together with a spoon.

For those with a Soda Stream, mix your G Fuel in a shaker cup with water, then pour it into your Soda Stream bottle and carbonate it on the lowest setting first. I recommend not doing more than 16 oz of water, as G Fuel expands when being carbonated, and it may overflow causing a huge mess.

    G Fuel Ready-To-Drink Cans

If you don’t like the chalkiness of the energy formula, give the cans a shot. G Fuel cans taste slightly different than the powder versions. The flavor is lighter than the powders, and it is obviously carbonated. The cans have twice the amount of caffeine compared to the energy formula, 300 mg per 16 oz can. For those sensitive to caffeine, you will want to opt for the energy formula.

Is G Fuel bad for you?

I personally don’t think G Fuel is bad for you. Comparing it to sugar-loaded energy drinks, it is a better choice. I’m not saying G Fuel is super healthy for you, but in moderation, it is better than other energy drinks.

Ingredients-wise, there are a few competitors that are slightly better. Advanced GG and Ghost Energy are two that come to mind. G Fuel has the advantage because of the number of flavors to choose from, and how affordable it is.

    Bahama Mama G Fuel Review

Bahama Mama was the very first flavor I purchased from G Fuel. Check out my review of the flavor here. Since then, I have purchased over 20 tubs and will be posting more flavor-specific reviews.

    Why I like G Fuel

I love G Fuel for many reasons, it is affordable and they have tons of flavors to choose from. They have some of the best tasting flavors, my favorites are Bahama Mama, Sour Chug Rug, and Ice Shatter.

G Fuel actually works, I sometimes take it during the workday to focus on my work as well as during gaming sessions. I never have felt sick or crashed from it, and I usually have 2 servings in my large blender bottle shaker.

    Taste - 9/10

I own over 20 tubs of G Fuel, as well as many other brands, and I can say G Fuel has some of the best tasting flavors. As long as you prepare it properly, G Fuel tastes amazing.

    Effectiveness - 9/10

G Fuel simply works. I’m not super sensitive to caffeine, but I notice the effects within 15 minutes of drinking some. I drink G Fuel while gaming, and even when I’m working and need something to help me focus on my work. I never have experienced any crashes or side effects from drinking G Fuel.

    Ingredients - 8.5/10

G Fuel’s ingredients are much better than other energy drinks. There are some things I’d like to see G Fuel improve, but overall they are really good.

    Value - 9/10

G Fuel is only $0.90 per 12-16 oz serving. And that’s without and specials. G Fuel always has discounts, and sometimes buy one get one deals. I recommend installing Honey and let it find you the best discount available.

    Overall - 8.9/10

    Overall, I rate G Fuel 8.9/10.

    Final Thoughts

G Fuel is a great alternative to sugary energy drinks. If you haven’t tried gaming supplements, give it a shot. Don’t expect it to make you a professional gamer. Instead buy it for an affordable, healthier option to traditional energy drinks.
